a member at many boards, that goes by the name 'Future', has a hernia, and needs an operation. he was contacted and told that his insurance wont foot the bill, so he needs to come up with 7k or he doesnt get the operation. (thats fvcked up in my opinion). so i am making it my personal responsibility to try and ease his worries by starting a fund for him. every little bit helps. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION TO THE OPERATION, PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE NEEDED INFO. i want to extend thanks to all of you who took the time to read and consider helping a fellow lifter.

Tell him to check into his state assistance programs. Also I may be mistaken but 7k for a hernia is pretty expensive. I'd call another doctor, but I suppose it depends on where you are living.

can you elaborate on state assistance programs?

You can get health care help if you qualify income wise, if you asked at a doctors office they would probably be able to help. They might even send you to a doctor or hospital that works with with that state insurance better. I know of a place in my state that is very top notch that works with lots of low income patients. They are in the top in the nation, so don't think you are sacrificing quality if they do send him to another place that works better with state insurance help.

no insurance company will pick him up, not even the state insurance, because the incident has already been documented, and the organization would be in for an instant loss..

Well what state are you from? I will check. Maybe my state is nicer but I had a girlfriend that had siezures and that was already documented, and she got help from the state.

He's 14. He has to be a dependent of someone who has to provide medical insurance. I don't know but this smells like some details are missing.

I'll dig around see what I can find but tell him to call his doctor and tell him that he can't afford it and if there is any sort of payment program or state assistance that can help him out. Most doctors/ hospital offices will have some information that can help him out. Contact them, that would be my first step.

Only thing I have found right now is that he should probably check into some other doctors because I have found that you can get a hernia surgery for $3,500 and that includes follow up visits. Only way it would be more they said was if there was complications. That was from a search on the internet, personally I wouldn't do my looking for doctors on the net but I was just looking for prices.
