| Im running on AMD Athlon XP 2100+ and i want to reformat windows and on the desktop i put the disc in (windows xp x64 edition) and i get the error 'This version of windows cannot be installed on this machine'. Anyone know whats going on? |

| Pretty sure your Athlon is a 32 bit proc. Thus you can't run Windows / 64. You would need to upgrade to like a AMD Athlon 64 3000+. Online they cost @ 100-120 bucks. |

| just get a copy of regular ass xp pro. you will probably need a new motherboard too if you plan on buying a 64 bit processor. which means you may possibly need new ram as well. 100-200 for the processor plus another 100-200 for a good board, plus another 100-200 for ram could lead to 600 bucks just to reload windows. not worth it IMO. im running an old as athlon 1700+ for 4 years now with no problems. i mainly go online, play with itunes, and burn dvds, but my machine works fine...got a nice 19" samsung flat panel ive had for about 4 years as well. not one burnt pixel----knock on wood--- |
