My wife is doing toxicology this month. She told me of two patients that she had and this is basicly the story.

A woman went out in her back yard and picked mushrooms. She cooked them up and her and her husband had them for dinner. Well, they both got terribly sick, but it doesn't end there.

Stage 1- Terrible stomach pains, vomiting and diarreah. About 8-16 hours of this.

Stage 2- Pt could be asymptomatic for a bit. The longer they are asymptomatic, the more terrible stage 3 will be.

Stage 3- Could be any of the following. Death, coma, liver failure. If they even survive, apparently there is a large chance that they will need liver transplants.

I knew they were toxic, but I was not aware that it would be so serious.

Hyea dont tell me this,..damn I dont like pickled mushrooms. I remeber a time when I eat them and after few hours I got all the symptoms you describe in Stage 1. I also lose my consciousness for a few sec's and need to go in hospital for a day or 2,..cant remeber!

Be careful what you eat guys! :screwy: ;)

Geez, i knew they were toxic too, but had NO idea it was that extreme.

I live out in the country and I always have to watch my kids so they won't eat those things.
