| I had been going for a full time position. They were not sure if they would be filling 1-3 spots. Each person would be promoted also to a supervisor position. There were 7 people interviewing total. I knew that if they were, in fact, going to fill 3 positions, that it was in the bag. There were only 3 of us interviewing that were remotely mature or even close to being qualified to take the position. Well, unfortunately, they brought outside board members to do the interviewing and hiring. These guys have never seen us function and never met most of us before. Yesterday is was decided and I was not chosen for the position. Two of the guys that I felt were good for the position got it and third that was a huge suprise. I am not just pissed that I didn't get the position, I am upset because it is a blow to me personally. The other chosen has alot of growing up to do, even with his military back round. He is just out of basic training, so it's not like he has been on duty at all to develope the skills that he has learned, so I know that is not it. I have more senority at the job than him, have been a medical provider longer am much more mature, and have had more supervising positions than him in the past. This kid is 20 years old and I think that he is stuck at 16. I hope they know that I will not be holding his hand. I feel that's what it is going ot end up being like. He has a hard enough time just doing the job, now he thinks he can handle a leadership role. This is the same guy I had to teach how to drive an ambulance because he wouldn't pay attention and would run red lights without even pausing to see if traffic is clear. You could be out on a call with him and he would just lose the moment and zone out. You have to hit him to get his brain back into the game. This place is getting scary. We have one solid supervisor in this place and hopefully the two new guys will take up the slack. The other supervisors have personal problems among thmselves, so it makes it a curcus sometimes. If things don't get better, I am leaving that place and I will let it be known why. |

| Life has a funny way of figuring things out. I would be a little upset too considering all the facts you mentioned above. "Well, unfortunately, they brought outside board members to do the interviewing and hiring. These guys have never seen us function and never met most of us before." I personally think that idea of bringing outside board member to do hiring is a little crazy. For one, it's not fair to anyone applying for the position, and 2, they don't know how well you work and what your capable of. Tough luck Shortz. Who knows, maybe the guy won't survive the position as supervisor. |
