The short and simple... Creatinine is taken into the muscles with nutrients and water. When you flex, you muscle pulls in the creatine, blood and water. When you relax, it pulls in oxygen. By increasing the creatine, you can force the muscles to take in more water and nutrients along with the creatinine and that means better recovery. When Creatine first came out, many wanted to prove that it was harmful to the kidneys and among other things. It was BS and I have not seen anything that proves that it is harmful at all. I think they have finally given it a rest and let it alone. Otherwise, they would have surely banned it by now.

does it work well? are the results permanent or just temporary?

whoops, my bad.

Well, the water that is pushed into the muscle is lost after a cycle, but because of the increased healing capability during the usage, those gains will be perm. Dont be upset if you lose a little weight coming off.

Shortz, I would like to see if I understand what "BCAA" is. Is it the full line of amino's? Secondly, how much creatine do you take a day, and at what time. Do you also consider taking it before / after work outs? Thanks, KJS

The first couple times I took creatine for extended periods I got huge water gain and mass size in my muscles, particularly my arms. Of course I also confused tablespoon and teaspoon so I was taking higher doses by a factor of 2 or 3 than what is recommended on the bottle. There is a definite decrease in soreness and recovery is a lot faster while on it. I no longer get the huge pumps from it, particially because I am closer to the recommended amount, but I still heal faster and feel less soreness. As for the cycling of creatine I feel that this isn't necessary. You will probably become a "non-responder" eventually. That just means no crazy water induced pumps. The football teams I worked out with said the same thing. If someone started taking creatine for the first time they would give him crap about trying to be bigger than the linemen and ballooning up. If I ever decided to take a month off from training I might stop taking it. The side effect stuff is bunk. This is like taking a specialized form of sugar. Sugar wont hurt your kidneys either. It goes into your body and subsidizes the creation of ATP giving you more short run energy for anaerobic activity.
