I've been working out for about 8 months now.
I haven't gotten a weight bench until yesterday, so until now bench pressing was out of the picture.
I'm 15, and overweight.
I'm pretty solid, I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
Anyway, I'm maybe 180 pounds?
I started lifting weights 8 months ago, and I only started curls with 20 pounds(about 9 kilos).
I got too used to that weight, so I added 5 pounds(2.27 kilos).
Then another. Then another. etc.
I'm now at the point where I'm at 50 pounds, and I can handle it.
edit: I do two reps of ten.
But, it seems my parents don't think I can.
They even asked some guy at Sport Check, who said the maximum for 15 is 25 pounds?
He didn't even see my arms..
I just want to know where I should be at.
180 pounds, working out for 8 months, adding 5 pounds on when my muscles got too used to the weight.
Plus, how much weight should I start bench pressing at?
Sorry if this post is a little too long..

start off at low weights and work your way up man....keep at it....at 15 years old, and curling 50lbs in each arm is pretty impressive.

you mean you do two sets of ten reps?

there is no given weight for ages....i mean, you only go as fast as you can train within your abilities...for benching, do three sets of 10 reps. and keep at it.

Yes, I was told to do that many.. I'm just not sure how much weight I should start off with.

I don't know what to tell you, I'm new to it myself.
(I've been doing it for 8 months, but don't really know what I'm doing)
I just started off curling with 20 pounds and added on 5 pounds every few weeks.
This may not be the best way, as it doesn't get much work done for your chest.
I've heard flies are good for your chest, but like I said, I'm a noob at it.
Anyway, I just finished practicing with 50 pounds on the bar with my weight bench.
I just love that burning feeling when you lift weights like that.
