| Hi, I'm an ectomorph & I'm having some trouble making up my mind on this issue. Please put me on the right path... I'm quite muscular for my size. I started working out by doing full body routines. I did 2 of them, improved a bit & then after a while I started split routines. I split my routine into 2, with 3 major muscle groups in each (ex - Day1: Legs/Shoulders/Tris, Day2: ...). I observed that I was bulking with these schedules as I get to focus better on each body part separately. Now due to some indifferences I came back to full body routines, 3 days a week & I feel that I'm not getting enough from it. I know the answer seems obvious, but some of my buddies say that I should do a full body routine. I just need another opinion & possibly a small explanation pls. Thanks. |

| It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Most guys I know try to break up the routine into 4 days. You say you work out 3 days a week. You could possibly do this with a split like chest and tris on day one. legs on day 2. then back bis and shoulders on day 3. this way you also give your upper body a break between workouts. after all rest and diet is the building blocks for muscle  |
