What do you guys think about doing weights when you have knee injuries? In particular upper body weights not leg weights. I have one that needs a reco and the other needs a clean up due to the cartlidge damage. Is it a bad idea to do standing weights when knees are injured. One of my mates once told me that if the weight is too strong for you then you use your back to lift (as we all know) but then he said if the weight is too strong for yuor back the next point of help are your knees.

Upper body work that I do standing are - Bicept curls, back work (I think called Lat raises) and shoulder work.

bro- you should be fine doing upper body weights, the main point is you're doing "upper body" not lower body. If your knees are truly as bad as you say they are, stay away from "heavy" lower body work. If you work your lower body do what feels comfortable on your knees. And if you look like your doing powercleans when you are really trying to do bicep curls then i would say your weight is too heavy.-Hook Em
