Hi, I weigh 175 and am 5'3. I know that is horrible, but I am really trying to get back in to shape. I workout at curves 3 times a week for 40 min each time and do the treadmill 3 times a week 45 min to 60 min. I am trying to keep my cals under 1200 and my fat under 15 usually 10 grams a day. I really need to know if this sounds good and what else I could do . I'm open to any advice.
thanks

What does your meal planning look like over the period of a day? I made a great diet for an active female to lose weight. I can report it here if you like.

Meal 1
4 egg whites and 2 slices 100% whole wheat toast or 1/2 cup oats

Meal 2
1 cup Dannon light and fit yogurt (plain or vanilla)

Meal 3
Chicken breast and vegie (brocolli, green beans, spinach)

Meal 4
apple/grapefruit

Meal 5
White fish and vegie

If you eat the right portions (mostly just 1 serving size) it's about 1000 cals.

So you don't eat dairy or poultry either? It's very difficult for a vegan to get the nutrients you need. For dieting, you want the body to be as efficient as possible and having the right combo of fats, protein and carbs is really difficult without these things. You will have to do a search. I only know of beans as being a good protein source, but even then, it's hard to eat enough without getting too many cals.

i tend to eat seeds and nuts.. is that good .. like soy nuts..

Just get yerself a little rope and bell, walk down the street, find a cow, put the rope around it's neck and attach said bell, walk the cow to your back yard, grab a sledge hammer and impale her big cow skull repeatedly until said cow is dead. Start cutting your choice of cuts from said cow, take to freezer and start eating meat.

Viola! problem solved

ok,ok, this may not be the best approach. But efficient none the less.

I am not a fan of soy, but I think nuts are good too. Peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are among the best.

BTW, if you want to make your own pumpkin seeds, they are easy to make. Just preheat oven to 350-400 degrees. Spray cookie sheet lightly with Olive oil cooking spray. Spread fresh seeds on cookie sheet and lightly sprinkle some Season All salt substitute and then bake for about 10-15 mins. I like mine crispy, so I leave mine in for atleast 15 mins. Anymore and they start getting a little bit of a burnt flavor to them.

My meals change some but basically it's like this. breakfast-5 egg whites with onions, mushrooms, peppers. All put in a wheat wrap(15 grams fiber low cals). Lunch-salad with a lot of vegies(2-3 cups)plain vinegar for dressing. Supper-salad with grilled or baked turkey or chicken sometimes. I also have 2 to 3 snacks thru the day. Usually carrots, cucumbers or apples. I have been on this since monday11-28-05. I really have not felt too hungry or that I'm depriving myself except for chocolate. How does that sound? By the way, for the vegetarian, Iam not a big meat eater. I was a vegetarian until I was 18. My family eats a lot of vegie food from kellogs. they don't have tons of stuff for vegans but some. I make really good lentil patties. THanks for helping me out with the meals, I will try them starting tomorrow. Traci

LOL, I've been told that before. Good thing I'm in shape, all I have to do is keep my mouth shut and I'm good. haha

But, the diet shortz posted looks really good. I have such a tiny amount of knowlege into the whole female fitness aspect of this sport, I don't pretend to know.

The diet you are on sounds good, with your exercise plan you should be able to see results. Just remember to keep weight training in your program, or you'll end up like I did, skinny and soft...
