Why is it that when someone loses close to 10 pounds, they are still pushing the same amount of weight, possibly even heavier than when they were 10 pounds+ heavier?

its just a general rule that more mass = more str. But you can cut the weight and still be as strong. plers do this for meets all the time.

That's interesting, personally if I lose weight I drop a few lbs on my lifts. That's usually what is normal, but if someone has alot of BF and loses 10lbs they probably are gaining weight from muscle as well. Are you talking personally?

Same here but why can some still push the same weight? Do they have a higher lean body mass or something and only lose fat?

last winter i was up at about 145. 145 was also my bench press. granted im only 14. now im down to about 130 and i cant lift the same amount of weight that i was able to then. Another factor that comes into play her is the fact that i was lifting for a longer amount of time. because of sports plus a broken leg my gym time was nearly eliminated a year ago, but now im back in the weight room and im lifting less than i was then even though i look better now the weight that i lost was most if not all fat.
