Last night whilst playing indoor soccer I injured my ankle after a kick from behind. My query is - when lifting weights for uper body as you use your back sometimes do your legs come ito it as well in particular further down towards the ankle area. I do know that sometimes when I lift heavy weights I can feel a strain further down than just my back. Is it safe to lift weights whilst nursing a ankle injury? Anybody who has any info on ankle recovery and also in doing sports after ankle injury (running, jogging, skipping) your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

can you walk on it? or put any weight down on your foot?

Yeah i can walk. very slowly and gingerely with a limp but yeah I can walk - it has only been just over 12 hours since it happened which leads me to believe that it isn't a serious injury as some people who do their ankles can;t walk for a few days.

ya, you'll be fine, and yes you should still be able to workout. Might have to go lighter on squats, calves and hammies until it completely heals. But from the sound of it you should be great by sometime next week. Hook Em

The first 24 hours of an injury is usually the worst, since you getting better already thats good sign. i'd stay away from putting extra weight on the ankle incase you do further damage until its good, prob give it a rest for the week and stick to upper body.

Yeah I only really train upper bodyy due to various serious injuries with my lower body including 2 bad knees (one needs a reco in order for me to play soccer again and one needs a clean up at minimum) and now my ankle. I am getting it x-rayed and ultrasounded on Friday so should have a better idea of the problem soon. Thanks for all the feedback.
