OK chest, legs, shoulders, triceps, back....all getting bigger. Biceps on the other hand are growing at I'd say 1/3 of the pace. So when I wear t shirts some of my friends still call me skinny cuz my biceps are smaller compared to like my triceps. I'm definately eating enough I think (hence every other body part is growing) heres my routine I do 1 time a week. -preacher curls 3 sets of 8, 7, 6 -hammer curls 3 sets of 9, 8, 7 -concentration curls 3 sets of 8, 7, 6 I'm 6'4'' 206 lbs. eating about 450 carbs/day and 300g protein a day. (but as I said everything else is growing so I dont see why my biceps arent)

well, number one, you do know genetics plays a big role in growth, right? 2-your triceps should be bigger than your bi's since it makes up the majority of your arm, 3-make sure your form is correct and you are squeezing tight...i always start with straight bar curls and add from there
posted by SkinnyManKyle
whats ur biceps routine cws?
posted by cwshorns
i do straight bar, incline d-bells, and hammer. the next time i superset straight bar with d-bell, preacher, and straight isolation. But i'm also trying a new routine where i hit my muscles twice a week. I hit a plateau, doing the one muscle group a week, and i've seen good growth so far from this routine
posted by cwshorns
...also, youre going to work different parts of your bicep, depending on where you grip the bar
posted by illsniggles
Try incline dumbell curls and make sure you fully extend, i started doing it a few months ago and it helped my bicep routine out a lot.
posted by cwshorns
on the incline, make sure your feet are elevated,as well. I don't mean on the bench, i usually grab a little bench or a big d-bell and put my feet on it.
posted by illsniggles
yeah very important to be balenced
posted by SkinnyManKyle
how many sets and how many reps cws
posted by cwshorns
i sent you a pm with my w/o in it for bi's. let me know if you didn't get it
posted by SkinnyManKyle
got it and I sent you a routine practically the same thing as yours that I'm going to try. THANKS
posted by mjllewellyn
How long have you been doing that same routine for? Do you change it up from time to time?
posted by SkinnyManKyle
I've been doin that for about a month, every now and then I'll use different exercises but I keep the sets and reps the same.
posted by mjllewellyn
Cool, just keep mixing it up a little like you are already doing. Genetics are a possible cause of this, but just be patient as sometimes it takes a while. It really did for me.
posted by SkinnyManKyle
alright thanks man look at my post i just posted "finally i think i got a routine..." and tell me how that looks. thanks again
posted by Joe_Ice
dude you want your biceps to grow you have to gain weight. Did you ever see a 170 lb trainee with 18 inch arms (its possible w/ freaky genetics) but the genereal population if they're growing in poportion its like 10-15 lbs for an inch on the ol arms. u can do bicep curls til ur blue in the face, they wont grow unless u pack some lbs on
posted by mjllewellyn
It is possible to have arms that size at that weight but very rarely. Joe is right.
posted by SkinnyManKyle
I'm guessing you didnt see on eof my other recent posts..... but I am starting to get fat. I have a gut now. Ive been trying to post pics to show that I have a gut but I cant figure it out. I'm eating plenty. Biceps are growing, just at like 1/3 of the pace of everything else. So if everything else is growing faster than my biceps, then I'm guessing it has something to do with my form/routine/frequency or w/e.
posted by brandozzz
and not to much rocking as well ever try curling with your back against the wall? :banghead: that isolates you pretty well
posted by Joe_Ice
If your biceps are growing then they're growing, whats the arguement?
posted by canibalistic_js
I gained most size on Bi's when I was doing heavy back exercises. Deadlifts and bent rows but why are you so worried about your bi's? IMO you should be worried about your entire arm. Also, you are overtraining your bi's.
posted by SkinnyManKyle
oo noo dont get me wrong Arms are the thing I want biggest most, Its just that Everything else on my arms and legs and chest is growing except my biceps.... so thats why im going to switch it up. Like triceps, shoulders, back, legs, chest are all growing probably 3 times faster than my bis.
posted by SkinnyManKyle
once again all I'm saying is that they take forever to grow so I was trying to find a new workout to help them catch up to everything else on my body.

I give up.

You Are Overtraining.
posted by CUTS
bump cani. everyone keeps telling you youre over training. so listen man...try training bi's once a week and see what happens
posted by Joe_Ice
worry abou getteing your squat and dead bigger not about your freaking biceps dude lol
posted by SkinnyManKyle
cuts... ive been doing that. bi's once a week for the last 2 months, and they havent grown in the past 2 weeks. so im trying something new.
posted by Improvise
LOL your biceps haven't grown in the past 2 weeks so you're trying something new? Stay persistent, man. You're not going to constantly get bigger every 2 weeks. You have to be consistent. It is good to change things up every few weeks, but stay patient and consistent. Don't work out and then go home and flex in the mirror to see if you've gotten bigger every day. Work out because you ENJOY working out and you will start to see results because you will make it a habit. It takes time, doesn't happen over night, that's why a ton of people resort to gear or just stop working out; they're impatient and are constantly looking at themselves in the mirror rather than working out because they simply enjoy working out.
posted by goldentornado22
training two times a week has been shown more efective. just dont do as many sets add some weight and youre good to go.
posted by S.W.A.T.
wtf once? try 3 times and u will see a difference.
posted by S.W.A.T.
he said 2 months not 2 weeks lol
posted by CUTS
totally agree with that statement. you go home everyday and look in the mirror you wont see results and you'll be discouraged. yea its cool to grow but like Improvise said, you need to enjoy it because you like lifting.
posted by Joe_Ice
and like i said before holy shit lol. You are new to training, had made great progess, but look it cha for christ sakes. It's time to start worrying aobut getting the big compuond lifts bigger. FU.CK YOUR BICEPS! LOL, if you worry about y our biceps you will not grow, trust me on that one, it's time to get back to the BIG picture, wh ich is NOT ur biceps.
posted by president_fad
hey man, joes rite, if you sit around and worry about your biceps, the SMALLEST muscle in your body, youre never gunna grow. Eat, lift heavy, and sleep, youre gunna grow. I do about 5 sets of bis a week, and my arms have grown an inch in about 6 monthes. Guess what, i went from 185 to 200, getting the big picture here?? **** YOUR BICEPS. My deads went up 70 lbs, i actually squatted 515 parralel, when i use to do 500 for quarters, i went from 225 bench for like 1, to about 6 times. Still not getting my point?? **** YOUR BICEPS.
posted by Improvise
You squat 515 and deadlift over 400 but can only bench 225 6 times?? Not trying to insult you, serious question because I've seen your training logs and I thought you were way stronger than that?
posted by Improvise
No, he said they haven't grown in the past 2 weeks after they've been constantly growing for 2 months? Doesn't make sense to me.
posted by Joe_Ice
fad has unusually long arms and a long torso, and has not yet mastered his bench technique either. once he will, it will go up... The squat and the deadlift are better means of testing strongness anyhow.
posted by Joe_Ice
Skinnyman, another thing u need to realize. GAINS ARE NOT LINEAR!!!! Meaning you only consistantly go up as a newbie lifter (which the newbie gains look like they've already been made). Now when you will gain it will appear as nothing is happening and then all the sudden you've gotten bigger. Same with Fat loss and strength. you cant keep consistantly going up in strength, you have to deload at some pont. .and once again. YOU HAVE SMALL ARMS AND I MEAN NO OFFENSE BUT THERE A GIRLS WHO HAVE BIGGER LIFTS THAN YOU, IT'S TIME TO GET THE BIG LIFTS BIGGER! FORGETA BOUT UR DAM ARMS!
posted by SkinnyManKyle
alright joe ice everything you say to me pisses me off so whenever i post something asking a question, please dont respond.
posted by cwshorns
here's my 2 cents- make sure you are doing all of your big movement exercises and if you still feel like you need to work your biceps or anything else for that matter,do it. But make sure you're doing those first and foremost.
posted by canibalistic_js
I agree with about this but remember this is coming from a plifter (nothing against it at all:D) and to add to what he is saying lifting isn't the only thing that will add to gains. IMO is sounds like you want to put on some size which isn't hard but lifting is only a counterpart to gains.

there we go... yes im focusing on getting my big lifts, never said i wasnt. Im focusing on my big lifts first, then I'm focusing on like my biceps, and my question was how I should go about doing that. but i think its been answered
posted by Storm
I am sure people saying you got skinny arms isn't helping your ego either..You need to take a step back and quit fallin prey to the image and just do the work and let thnig happen..Maybe your bis are a hardgainer it isn;t so easy you just find a majical routine that will make your bis grow faster all of a sudden..Your playing a weak mind and need to focus more on doing a good job all the way around and quit being a pussy over some people jawjacking about your arms..Takes time and hard work...
posted by Joe_Ice
Why do I even bother? I give some simple advice and no one listens. And i see their pictures and i know why lmfao!!!!! Hey Buddy, guess who started out PL-ing..... Ronnie Coleman, Dexter Jackson (still compete), Johnnie Jackson, Branch Warren and a lot more. Why? BC strength = MASS... Many PLers are absolutely ripped and many of the SHW so called "Fat ones" could diet down and win some BBing shows (and sometimes do).
posted by canibalistic_js
Some people take this sh*t way too seriously
posted by SkinnyManKyle
no one listens to you cuz ur a ****ing dick. Isnt the point of this whole forum for people to ask questions? Thats what I thought at least. Storm ur a mod and ur being a douchebag too. I asked a simple ****ing question and I got my ****ing answer so stop being douchebags.:) DAAAAAAMN
posted by SkinnyManKyle
and another thing Joe Ice... You see my arms now, bud did you see them before I started lifting? Didnt think so, so how the **** can you judge how someone is gaining by just looking at current pics, before you judge whether or not a person is gaining, look at their before and after pics.
posted by Joe_Ice
33 lbs is a great gain no doubt, but if you really want to be a powerhouse u still gotto pay more dues and stop worrying about your biceps
posted by Storm
Oh really then how about you take your ass elsewhere kidd from what you said your just being a punk wanting big arms yesterday and putting to much into what others are saying and not just bowing your head and doing the work plus your not being a bit realistic..So grow up.. You aksed a questiuon and from what you have said you got answers some your didn't like just as you didn't like it when your friends made fun of your arms and it sent you to cry baby land so fck you and go learn somehwere else if you want to be a hard head about it...

Well fck he wants big arms but damn form what he said it is basicly from his buddys raggin him..Then he wanst some super specail routine that is going to make his arms grow 3x faster as the rest of him is..Talk about wanting it all right now..Geez I am gald he thinks it is so easy to do all of this and bis will just grow faster when you find the exact right program for them...Douchebag?? Yeaaaa right...I forgot I was a douchebag.....Hmmmmmm

i squat 515 and dl 570 thanx :P. Hey man, eveyone has to start sumwhere. goin from 225x1 to 225x6 is pre good tho eh? I had been trying some new training techniques that werent working lately, but i think i thought of something thats really gunna help my bench.
posted by president_fad
ima stop deadlifting, squating, benching, tbar rowing, bent over rowing, military pressing and do concentration curls every day.
posted by CUTS
chest has always been my weakest point too. once i started doing DB's is when my strength and size went up alot. i feel it works the belly of the muscle better.
posted by Joe_Ice
u got long arms, ur bench isnt going to be great, so ure chest size will probably always lack
posted by CUTS
never thought about that.... sorry to hijack. work them out once a week and you'll see results SkinnyKyle. de ba de ba de thats all folks!
