| Hey guys I'm a newbie and I had a few questions about getting started. I do have a specific goal in mind that being to get toned and in good shape (ie not just look super chisled but also have some cardio to back it up). For me the ideal would be to reach David Beckham status (as opposed to LL Cool J or something) and yes I know, he's an athlete (who can't kick :aah:) and who trains everyday. I can manage M W F workouts but only an hour or so a day, so my first question would be is that too little? I'd also like to stay in proportion, I know way too many guys who look like small blocks because they've overdone it. I'm about 5'7", 125-130lbs (so yeah I think I need to put on a little bit of weight...) I've checked out the stickied routine and I really don't know if that's what I need...? Any advice would be appreciated. I think, while starting anyways, I'm going to stick to using machines becuase I've heard messing up with free weights really isn't good. Ahhh long post, thanks in advance! |

| I think I kicked David's ass just last week. Does he even work out? LOL That shouldn't be a problem. Eat low carbs and run...what more do you need? As for using free weights, don't let anyone tell you they are worse than anything else. The people most likely have no clue how to even use free weights. You can accomplish more with free weights than machines. As for a routine, I think the stickied routine would be good. It is a great way to get comfortable doing certain movements and not use too much volume. Alot of althetes that aren't looking to get huge, only improve performance, use routines like that. |
