When doing cardio is heart rate the only factor to consider in "good cardio"? I am just starting a strong cardio regimen and have found that after jogging for 20-30 minutes my heart rate is still at 128-135 which I would consider a bit low for "target heart rate" at age 23. Should I be running until a feeling like lifting or running towards a heart rate? I am in the middle of a bulking cycle and looking to keep things under control. Thanks.

personally the only time i would do cardio is for a show. i am bulking all the time but i eat clean so i dont worry alot about bodyfat. if you want to run stay around 140-145.

well, my avg heart rate on HIIT was around 150-170, but when your doin the 45 sec intervals, it spikes.

Haven't heard of using HIIT with bulking. But it seems like it might reduce cortisol/catabolism from cardio. I think I'd take a some type of shake afterwards though. This heat wave (we're at about 10 - 15days of 95+ in SC) has shutdown my HIIT, the only way I could hit the intensity level was running hills. I can't seem to push myself hard enough on a treadmill or ergo. I'm about convinced that what people have been prescribing for cardio for the last few years is bunk, HIIT seems to get me in better shape faster -- and at least one study showed it dramatically better for burning fat. I guess I need to start HIIT at 6am when its only 85 or so degrees.
