| I started working out with a personal trainer about three weeks ago. The first few times I thought I was going to pass out he pushed so hard. Also the air was down in my gym, so I was exhaused by the time the hour was up. I decided that after losing 35 lbs and starting an exercise program I'd have my chol rechecked. So after a heavy workout, about 40 mins later, I had my labs drawn. I was shocked to see my liver enzymes come back so high. AST/ALT were very high. Doc ordered all the hep labs and they were negative. He thinks it's some sort of viral infection that those labs are very sensitive to begin with. My question is this. I've been reading up on it and extreme exercise and muscle damage, which I'm sure I've experienced, have been known to raise the liver enzymes. Anyone out there ever hear of this? I am rechecking the levels after a few days without exercise to see if there is a difference. |

| I think you are stressing too much. You will get elevated levels as protein is broken down int the body but it is a normal natural process. If you have high levels you are better off looking at what you shove in your mouth. |
