Alright bros and broettes... I have this nagging problem and no sort of rest, brace or anti-inflammatory seems to help. I thought that someone here may have experienced a similar problem and could shed some light on how to deal with it.... If you hold your arm straight out in front of you so that it is perpendicular to your body with your palm facing up you should be able to feel the hard bone on the inside of your elbow. If you move your finger down about an inch towards your hand you should be able to feel a couple of tendon attachments. It's a sharp stabbing pain in there whenever I try to do anything, be it lift a weight, grip anything or even try to push myself up from a chair. I have wrapped it with everything and taken weeks off the gym at a time.... to no avail. If I get my forearm pumped enough, a painful process, I can workout but I know that's not a good idea... any suggestions...

I could use some advice before I try to workout again in the morning :)

Does the pain shoot down your arm torwards your hand? Does it get really bad when you turn it out, like when doing BB curls? What have you done to relieve the pain? What meds have you taken and how much? Yes, all of these questions are important.

Pain stays in the one spot and I have not taken any pain meds, just anti-inflams. BB curls hurt but it is not the classic tennis elbow, I've had that too.

sounds like a problem I used to have. try and stay away from straight bars foir a while... I find this really helped me. I also used to get it from twisitng the weight when doing 1 arm rows. I now use my versagrips( like a glove and straps in one) and I feel alot better. in my case it is probably because my forearms are kindda small and I have tigh tndons all over my body cause of my back, 2 vertabre are cartilege cause Im' was born a premature Smallguy

I have narrowed it down to the fact that the pain happens anytime I apply pressure with my index and middle finger and then pull.

I was leaning torwards your Ulnar nerve at first. If anti inflams didn't work and the pain stays in one spot, it's not that. That nerve is actually what the funny bone is, and it runs all of the way down into the fingers. My next guess would be Epicondylitis, which is tennis elbow. Tennis elbow can have a couple different symptoms and yours is pointing torwards it. It is not always the same. Let me try to get a second opinion though. For now, I would do what smallguy said. Stick to reverse grip curls for now. As easy as it gets, if it hurts, don't do it. The more pain you create, the worse you are making it. Plain and simple. You need time off, but if you choose not to, then take care of it.

That would indicate your Ulnar nerve.

And the solution would be...

If shortz is right you may just be gripping the bar to hard, ease off on the grip and no more pain... hopefully

What have you taken for the pain, as in, what specific thing have you taken. First and foremost, like I said earlier, you need to give it rest. Nerves are one of the slowest healing parts of the body. They grow at a rate of 1mm per month. Try taking 800mg of Ibuprofin every 8 hours and see if that does the trick. If not, I would consider seeing a doc and see what he has to say about it. Remember that connective tissue does not become inflamed, only the muscle around it. So, if the Ibuprofin isn't helping at all, it may just turn out to be connective. But, the Ulnar nerve travels from the elbow into the fingers, so this sounds like it may be it. Celebrex is a good script alternative. You could try to get a trial pack from your doc too.

My area of study is emergency medicine. It would be nice to have an ortho as a member to be able to help out with stuff like this. Ya know, Radical_P would be a good guy to have here also.

Well all I have taken is Vioxx, it's a strong anti-inflam but doesn't have the gastric bleeding problem associated with long term anti-inflam use. It'd not grip related, I can squeeze as hard as I want with no pain, but squeeze and then lift... that;s another story. Thanks guys.

Alright, this is getting insane. Is it possible to have a hairline fracture of the head of the Ulna that leaves your arm completely funcitonal until you apply pressure in very specific ways or lean on a very specific spot? I think it may be time for some xrays or somehthing.

It is very possible. This is how peple over look a fracture sometimes. I believe it still may be a nerve though, but a fracture is possible. If it's that bad, you need to see a doc bro. He will most likely tell you to take some time off too.

I have not really been in the gym for well over a month!! I called Tele-health and they told me the same thing. Possible nerve, possibly hairline. Reco was to see the doc in the next few days. That's the plan now... It's amazing how an injury can screw you and then you let your body turn to shite... I should be getting back and at least doing cardio and abs... I have had strained shoulders, torn quads, and bad back. All more serious but nothing has put me out of commission like this little thing.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
