wuz wondering if anyone could help! ive been training for about a year now, im pretty sure youd call me a kid cos im 16 and need some guidance so i can really get going somewhere! ive been slogging my guts out at the gym, recently ive been doing alternate days, one day arms, one day legs, every day. i used to do 4 sets of 12 on each exercise and it would work out i did each bodypart twice, i olny just chnged my programme so i lowered the weights i am using and now i do every muscle group twice and each exercise i do sets of 16, about 3-4 times on a medium intensity really slow, proper form. i train to failure though i usually complete the sets when i get home, ive usually pulled muscles and ive seen gains, but theyre very poor. i really go out there to work hard, i screw my mates that are in the corner chatting, put everyhting i got into the workout, like im there every day and im still going school and holding down a job and stuff too! i was wondering if anyone could give me help on getting on the track of the right amountof exercise i should be doing, i thought i could be overtraining but i cant see the symptoms in me! would a protein suppliment help on the strain im going through? the change in programme ive done is to copy my friends programme thats getting him really good gains, but i feel like a headless chicken at times! if you could help but need any more details to give you a better clue, or want to reply to this, please mail me at nos_burner@hotmail.com thanks!

I felt by emailing you, it takes away from others learning, so I am posting it on the board instead.

Sometimes it' hard to tell if you'e over training. Things to ask yourself. When you lift, are you able to make it to the end of the workout at the same intensity that you started at? Are you tired alot? Are you gaining?

When we start lifting, it doesn't matter what we do, we will most likely gain because we are simply shocking the body...anything will work. After a while, we learn to train more intellegently with less volume, but more intensity in each set. You must change the routines up a bit to prevent them from getting stale too. It sounds like you have come to a point that you need to revamp your routine and do just what I mentioned.

What are your goals?
