Most of your typical vitamins are based off of a 2000 calorie diet and has the MINIMUM of everything. BBers put great amounts of stress on their bodies and this can even supress the immune system. Having a multi that has more than what is needed can help ensure that you are getting enough. Go to a Vitamin store and get yourself a good multi. Start with small bottles though. Some multis can give you stomach aches and by getting a small bottle, you can test it out for a short time to find out which one agrees ith your belly more. One other thing, Men's and Women's vitamins are different. This is why it's important for you to get a Men's multi instead of a generalized one. For instance, men do not typically need iron because they generally get enough in their diet. A good Men's multi will lack Iron. Women need iron because of their cycling once a month, which they lose precious Iron.

Taking vitamins doesn't mean you should stop eating healthy foods. Eat like you normally would. The vitamins are only for insurance in case you aren't getting enough.

If a person was to consume too much iron, would that put your body into a catabolic state? What would happen?

Taking a multivitamin every day covers the "loose ends" in your diet, making sure your body has all micros available for its functions. Apart from the multi, i take extra vit C, vit E, calcium and magnesium.
