Hi just wondering if choclate milk is a good weight gainer at 800 cals per litre which i can easily drink?

no I am sure it's all sugar, empty calories.

actually 2% milk is one of the most preferred bulking staples in diets.... jcgaughn is wrong...it is NOT empty calories. there are some sugar calories from the chocolate flavouring, but not too much. drink as much as ya want if your bulking. it was, and still is preferred by many many lifters!

I was just guessing. I know milk is good but I was thinking like nestle quick. Hell if I know. If I'm bulking I just eat everything. :D

I have trieds the lactose free milk and its pretty good but 3 times the price of regular milk.I am not to worried about drinking it.Although while cutting it might be a good idea to spend a few hours a day on the can

Well like i said there are better choices. Its alwways better to eat whole foods instead of supplelenting with shakes and such.If you arent eating atleast 5-7 times a week i would say you need to get in a few more whole food meals. Instaed of tryin to add in 800 cals at one sitting try and spread it throughout all your meals. I just dont see why you would wanna add all that sugar to your diet.

I agree with Kg there is a lot of sugar in the chocolate milk. The 800 extra calories will get you big, but not the big you are looking for. You will most probably gain fat when your body converts all that sugar. If you are looking to add extra calories to your diet, I would add a protien shake or a protien bar. The important thing is try to try to take in 5-7 meals a day. In otherwords spread the calories out. You dont want to have 70% of your caoloric intake from one meal.

Ok thanks,, does it make a diffrence if u have that many cal, in one sitting

Is it better to spread out the 800 cals?

It depends on what your caloric intake is. You should aim for 5-7 meals a day with roughly equal caloric value. In other words the meals should be close in value...Therefore, if you were taking in 4000 to 4800 calories a day 800 calories in one sitting would not be a big deal. If you were taking in 2000 calories, it would, because it would make it hard to get worth while calories from the other 5 meals. If you need the 800 calories in one sitting, you would be much better with a weight gainer shake than the Chocolate Milk.

You will have the same problem with weight gainers also. Weight gainers are full of sugar too. Do you have any idea what caloric need you have each day?Divide that into 5-8 meals and this will tell you how many cals you need for each meal.

between the added sugar in the chocolate milk and the lactose....your getting way to much sugar...empty is correct. Sure your getting 8 grams of protein per 8 ounces.....but your getting 11 grams of lactose + what ever the added sugar is...lets say 10 grams. So....32 calories from protein and 84 calories from simple carboyhdrates. Not Great.....not to mention...even if your not lactose intolerant...chances are you'll be on the shitter pretty often....
