I am 6' 1" tall, 258lbs, 21 yrs old, and male. I play football as a defensive lineman and I am looking to maintain or grow new muscle while lowering bodyfat %. currently I would venture to say my bf % is in the mid to upper teens. I know this post is long but any help advice would be great.

My recently started diet and year old training sched is as follows...

6:00 am Meal 1: 3 large eggs and two slices wheat toast (plain) w glass of o.j.

10:00 am Meal 2:MHP Macrobolic MRP

12:00 pm Workout and immediately following, Protein shake

1:00 pm Meal 3: boneless skinless chicken breast (2), 1 cup white rice and glass of water

4:30 pm Meal 4: steak and baked potato (plain) w/ green tea

6:30 Meal 5: chicken breast (1) w/ glass of water

7:30 Meal 6: protein shake


My training sched is as follows:
Mon:DB shoulder press 3X10 (80 lb DBs)
Front raises 3x10 (30 lb Dbs)
Lateral raises 3x10 (20 lbs Dbs)
Shrugs 3x10 (110 lb DBs)
cardio (1/2 hour staionary bike)

Tues: Torso rotations using weighted machine 3x15
leg raises 3x20
lat pull downs 3x10
bent over rows 3x10

wed: Flat bench press 240x10,255x8,270x6,285x4,300x2
Decline press: 245x10,260x8,280x6,300x4,315x2
incline press: 195x8,225x5,235x3
Pec dec until failure
cardio (1/2 hour jogging or biking)

thurs: Squats 3x10
leg press 3x10
leg extension 3x10
leg curls 3x10
seated calf raises 3x20

Fri: Concentration curls 3x10
Tri push downs 3x12
preacher curls 3x10
tri kick backs 3x10
preacher curls using partner and towel until failure

is this the training schedule your strength coach gives you? Your team does have a strength coach, right? Why do you have cardio down? I'd cut out the cardio; seems to me you would be getting enough cardio during practice. The best advice i can give you, having played Division 1 football myself, is to talk to your strength coach. Number 1 he knows what is best for you, especially during the season, also, he can recommend a diet for you in order to keep your current playing weight. Besides all of this, he has the best resources to get all of the drinks and foods that you need to tailor your diet.-Hook Em
