When trying to lower bf. percentage, what do you think is best for cardio?

What is interval training all about?

posted by CUTS
train a little above your target heart rate. it depends on your body but some people do 3-5 times a week 20-45min. depends on goals and how fast your body gets rid of fat.

interval training shocks your body and so it forces it to burn extra fat. by increasing your running speed or the incline every minute or so it will shock the body.

actually interval trianing is upping the intensity for a set period of time followed by a decrease in exertion

Ok, so I have been interval training the whole time and didnt know it. My treadmill, like many, has fat burning "courses" that increase incline and speed randomly depending on chosen intensity level, so i guess thats what you mean.

BUT, ive been sitting at like 16% here for a while. I find myself confused as to how i can go below 16, while losing ONLY fat and not strength. You need to have a surplus of calories to grow, but a deficit to lose BF, so wherein lies the balance? How is it achieved?

Its a delicate balance. You need to run maybe a 500 cal deficit a day at most. It takes some tweaking and some time. All the while taking in as much protein as you can. Also, it doesnt hurt to take a fat burning stack like ECA(ephedrin, caffeine, and aspirin) You gotta keep the food comin in 5 or 6 times a day, just smaller portions.

Thanks estray, ive been working hard to balance the diet, and eating a LOT of Bumble bee cans! Im gonna try this for a while longer, a weight loss supplement would be a last resort.

Burn more calories than you put in.

The best form of cardio depends on you. I for one cannot run on a treadmill for longer than 25 minutes (usually 3 miles). I burn about 250 cals when I do that. I just started doing cardio on the elliptical and I can get my heart rate high enough to where I'm burning the same amount of calories as if I were to run on a treadmill and I can go for much longer.

Cardio is all about heart rate. Some people can get their heart rate up higher doing incline hike intervals on the treadmill than running, some prefer bike or elliptical. Depends on your body. My legs tire quick so the elliptical is perfect for me. I can go for an hour on the thing easily and burn 600 cals and I'm not even tired.
