Ive been cutting for a couple of weeks now and besides the 5-6lbs i lost the first day(water im assuming) nothing much has happened. In fact im still making good strength gains every week. I was concerned with just keeping the strength id built up but somehow its still going up. This happen to anyone while cutting. Should I cut my cals back more? Im currently only eating about 2500cal day and 250-300g protein. I figure my maintenance level is 3000. Maybe its actually lower?
Thx

I'd say either do some cardio or you still need to cut the cals. Also, make sure your carb intake isn't too high. I can't really give too much advice with not knowing what you were eating before or now. All I can say is adjust your meal plan until you are losing 2-3 lbs a week... You don't want to lose more than that each week.

Im doin cardio 3-4 timrs a week. heres what im eating.http://bbforums.com/showthread.php?t=4332&page=6
I was eating 3300-3500 cal/day when bulking for a while and gaining nothing till i kicked it up well over 4000/day so I figured my maint. was at least 3000/day?

I read the totals for your meal ( protein, carbs ) It sounds like your getting decent amounts on that stuff... I would say you probably just need to adjust the cals until you are hitting that 2-3 lbs a week. Another thing that you can try too, is to substitute some of your carbs in your diet with carbs like green vegetables, high in fiber. Another thing you can try that I throw into my diet quite a bit is lentils. They don't have much taste, but they are very high in fiber and protein. and are a good source of carbs.

It is just a process in finding out what your body responds to. I am cutting now too. it took me a while to find that perfect meal plan that allowed me to lose enough but not too much. Just takes a little experimenting

Thanks for the ideas rotty. smallguy, Right now im 185.A typical day right now is 274g protein, 198g carbs, 53g fat. I try to stick with low gi carbs for the most part, esp. in the evening. I guess the question is is it possible to lose bf and still gain stranth at the same time or is this an indication im still eating too much?

it's possiable to losoe fat and gian some strength I have done it... i know a few others woh can do it too.

if yuor 185 I'd probably drop your cals to 2250 see how that works keep the portien high and I'd start with manipulating your carbs a bit drop em to say 150 instead of 198.

I would go with what smallguy said. I would probably put my cals between 2000 and 2200. And like smallguy said, bring the carbs down to 150. Another thing you can do is cycle the carbs 150 for a couple days, then bump them up to 100 or so for one day, then drop to 120 for a day or two. This keeps your body from getting used to a certain amount, which keeps the metabolism from slowing.

I am in the same position, im about 15% right now, trying to get as low as i can go without getting weaker. I think its all about diet, you cant make any exceptions, you gotta be strict and hard on yourself to lose fat and build simultaniously. Do good cardio, every other day, thats what works for me.

Whenever i think about dieting i always think of that scene from Dodgeball when Ben Stiller is looking at that donut and shaking, saying "you want that donut doncha FATTY" always makes me laugh and try harder.

Alright, this is starting to work. Ive dropped 2 pounds in the last week. doin about 2200 calories and varying carbs anywhere from 100g to 225g a day. Thanks.

whats your body fat%

one crappy thing about the human body is it will get comfortable with the fat right were it is. as you know if you plateau, you need to stay consistant, too many people try to switch up thier diet to keep losing, honestly from experience if you dont want to lose muscle, 250-400 cal deficit and after about 10 lbs of fat loss you should drop another 250. it should take forever to lose, but you will lose it. i did. 140lbs

Right now its about 14%. Im not gonna drop my cals below 2200. Havent lost any muscle yet. I can lose 5lbs a week if I want but Ill take some muscle with it. Thats why im goin with 2200 cal and shootin for 2 lbs a week.
