I weigh 200 pounds, but I only consume about 100g of protein a day.
Can I still gain muscles mass?

No. 1.5-2g per pound of BW. 300-400g day

post your diet... I gurantee your not eating proper foods. sub a whey protein supplement if you need too... personally I just take whey protein after weight...i dont take it throughout the day because my diet is strong enough

It's a lot easier than you think... Im getting 450-500 grams of protein every day....

Getting A lot of protein isnt really that hard, you just gotta know where to look. Also, get it from food. A shake is a nice pick me up when you cant cook a meal, but there is no substitute for meat.

If you eat

1 8oz can of Chicken of the Sea (or bumble bee, whatever) Tuna at 11:00am Thats 100 grams right there.

Lunch at about 1:00 p.m, A pound of smoked turkey, about 180 grams.

3:00 pm a 2 scoop shake. 40 grams

Dinner at 6:00 Another small can of tuna, or 2 grilled chicken breast, 60 grams

Thats 380 grams right there, MIND YOU, THAT IS NOT MY FULL DIET, NOT A BALANCED DIET, OR ALL THAT YOU SHOULD EAT.

I was merely providing an example of the meat i eat in a day, to show how to get up to 400 grams of protein, with sides and whatnot, i easily could get up to 500 grams a day without gaining any fat.

morning:1 bowl of oatmeal, glass of milk

during school:a chicken breast, or smoked turkey sandwich, some fruit

after school: large lunch, varies from lasagna, chicken drumsticks, beef

snack: peanut butter sandwich

dinner: 3 eggs and a can of tuna

how many proteins are in there???

posted by estray
Thats more than 100. You really should get some whey to drink between classes.

i think 180 grams of protein at one meal is a little overkill.....

Yeah but it works! The local smokehouse runs a special, a pound of beef, turkey, or pork, for 6.99. Tastes delicious, and the small meal plate is 5.99, so why not spring and get the pound?

its fine to get the lb, but you could break that up into 3-4 meals eaily.

bro there is no way theres 100gs of proiten in a can of tuna u cant just take the wight of the product?
and a 180 gs of prot in a lb of chicken im dobting that.

eating 180 gs at once is going to do nothign thats way overkill bro if u eat 50gs every three hours that amount of protien is good but will never be digested as all protien it will turn into carbs or fat depending on waht u take in with it.if enough good carbs are taken in during meal it can last longer or will jsut be turned int fat.
I advise taking a colledge nutrition course if you really want to learn about this stuff

contemporary nutririton 101 is a great course to get all the basics.

I am around 245lbs and 8% bf and with breakfast and the shake after my wrkout I do around 100g of protein so there is noway your gonna use up more then that and be samller then me...

100g after your workout??

posted by AMERFOOTBALL
i do the same. after my workout, the meal i eat with the shake equals about 100 grams. throughout the day i eat prob around 200-250 grams. and then right before bed i have a casein shake (only on weight days). i don't think eating more than 100 grams in a sitting will be more beneficial than 100...

Im not talking about the little can thats like 2.5 inches in diameter, im talking about the BIG can. Even if its notgood to eat the whole thing, there is an 8 oz can of tuna with 96 grams of protein, i swear. Its 3 times the volume of the little cans. I have at least a dozen of them in my pantry as we speak.

President Fad, i really have noticed a negative effect on my health from eating large portions of meat, but i will break it up for a week. always willing to try something different.
