I don't know if this is what people are referring to when they say "carb loading" but lately ive noticed a lot more,(possibly cuz ive built some decent mass over the past few months) that when I eat something high in carbs, especially high gi carbs, my muscles feel bigger/fuller about 1/2 hour to an hour afterwards. Ive also been trying to take in some high gi carbs right after my workout with my protein shake. Is this a good idea?

well you'll hear that term alot in sports and bbers before a show. i would eat alot of carbs before a bb game. you cut the carbs out for a bit to get even more lean then before the show you "carb load" it fills your muscles so you dont look flat. im sure someone who has done a show here can explain it better.

Carb loading is when you eat a ton of carbs before a very long, strenuous exercise so you have fuel all the way through. Marathon for example. for every g of carb you keep, 3g of water is retained so that maybe contributing to the bigger/fuller feeling. To much can make you sluggish. After a workout youre trying to replenish depleted glycogen stores. A fast acting liquid form of carbs is best. Dextrose or maltodextrin and even sucrose will work so I dont think it really matters if its high gi or not since dextrose has no insulin response and sucrose has a high one.
