| Just wondering what it does. I know its high in fiber, vitamins and minerals, and protein... but what does it do to help build muscle? AND how much should I take a day? For like $4.39 I found some flax seed softgels that has 60 servings with 1,000 mg flaxseed oil. is this good? the brand is Optimum |

| Oil with protein and fiber? That's unlikely. To my knowledge it doesn't have any muscle building properties. I would guess that 6 - 8 gms a day should be the limit. I use fish oil (very similar), and take 6g a day. |

| its good fat you need, EFAs like omega-3 6and 9.They provide support to many of your bodys systems, cardiovascular,reproductive,immune and nervous.They all benifit from EFAs,but the body cant produce them.You can get EFAs from foods like salmon,avocado and nuts.Or just flax seed oil and similiar others.But its a definite must to throw a table spoon in your protein shakes atleast once a day.I use 2 table spoons.1 for the morning and one after the workout mixed in with a protein shake. |

| You can get fish oil caps at WalMart (I get the enteric coated -- its worth the extra dollar) -- its easier to work with than flax -- and as fad said, your going to have taste problems if you try to use the oils directly. Dear god I can't imagine how bad cod liver oil must taste (the uncoated caps are bad enough). |

| As others have said flax seed oil is not the best. If you are looking for something a fish oil is going to bethe best way to go. You will get your omega 3,6 & 9's out of it. Also try to get a fish oil that is interacoated it is going to have a higher absorption rate by the body. This is do to the interacoating will keep the fish oil from being destroyed primarley in the stomach acids. |

| There have studies that show flax seed oil is a better fit for women. I have read some conflicting studies on the subject. My work has me constantly reading new material and researching the newest studies. There are some findiongs that flax seed oil has a slight estrogenic effect. A better source of your essencial fatty acids are going to be from a fish body oil or the more preffered way would be from your food intake. On the other hand who can get a perfect intake of all the essencials. |

| watch out for those that are just starting with flax dont take too much off the bat because it will give you stomach cramps and diahhrea.easy source for extra cals as well... |
