hey guys,

been working hard for the past few weeks, and decided to post this up before I really partake in it. wondering what yalls opinion is about a cheat meal or a cheat day. to be quite honest with you, i have been doing cardio atleast 6 days a week for either 30 minutes or an hour, but if i do an hour i do it twice a day. i keep my heartrate in the target zone for me, but im just wondering if a cheat meal or day will really effect me that much. i dont want to go crazy, im just thinking of something along the lines of keeping me motivated with some more "normal" food, and im sure yall know what i mean. thanks for the help fellas, and keep up the the good work all, any help with this is really appreciated, and any of my other posts as well, thanks guys your the best

i dont think a cheat meal is all that bad. some say it is good to kindof keep your body guessing

you just about have to throw a cheat meal in, its hard to stick to a diet 7 days a week, allow yourself a meal from Taco Bell (personal fav), but you need to kind of figure it into your diet, i mean lets say your going for 3000 cals a day and that one day you go 3500 your gonna be alright. just dont make a habbit of it every day, just one meal a week.

sounds good guys, like i said, i dont really want to go crazy, i mean i have been working really hard with the cardio everyday and all that, im just wondering if i throw in a burger or something like that, is it really gonna throw me off, while keeping everything else the same, i mean a person could go insane eating what im eating every single day, which is chicken, salad, protein shakes and as much water that my bladder can hold

sorry for the long posts haha, but by the way, does it sound like im doing the right thing to get down, my goal is to be at about 240 or 230, im at about 280 now give or take, and i do cardio everyday for atleast 30 mins and a strict diet of chicken, salad, and protein shakes and glutamine, along with hydroxycut hardcore. I hope im going in the right direction, but any advice would be great, thanks guys

you should be eating a little red meat just about everyday anyway bro, throw down some steak or a lean burger in there

***ok i just looked at your diet plan

what is your daily protein intake like? reason i ask it looks like it may be a touch low. are you using like fitday.com or anything to keep track of your total intake per day?

You can have a cheat day for variation, but just eat cleaner as the day goes on.

well, a round figure bout be about 200 to 300 grams of protein a day, depending on how much chicken I eat, but i have two shakes a day, 60 grams a shake.

try to keep it around 1.5-2g per pound, and try to get more protein from food swap a shake out for a couple cans of tuna or a couple chicken breasts i would say save the shake for PWO when your body needs it most

I haven't had a cheat meal in about uhmmmmmm 3-4 weeks. I am pretty dedicated but I am all about them and if you go out go out big like a few pizzas, and anything you want broski.

ok, i just checked out fitday.com, thats a great way to track my stuff, thanks for that, and as for the protein shake, your saying to save that for pre workout, and dont take the other one post, cause thats what i do pre and post, and instead sub that for a meal, like another chicken breast or two? what about my cardio as well, i use a treadmill (bad wheel) at about 3.5 mph on an incline of 4% for atleast 30 mins a day, if not an hour, but split up, and my heartrate is always above 150, is that good or do i need to do more, id like to lose enough weight to get to about 240 or 260 by May or so..........any thoughts????

60 grams of protein in one shake? are you drinking a weight gainer? at 280pounds looking to get down to 240 you want a whey isolate shake..most are around 24 to 30g of protein with low carbs.. how many calories are in those 'shakes' your taking?

He is prbably adding a few more scoops. I think ON has some whey thats 60grams protein per serving.

no no save that shake for post work out eat before hand. im assuming you workout in the evening right? if so do it something like this

wake up
AM cardio if possible, 30 min
breakfast say at 8:00am, then eat again at like 10, then 12 then go for like 2:30 or 3
workout
followed by shake - sit down relax and enjoy that one.
go home and polish off your cals for the day

try to follow something along those lines, try to keep the carbs low in the evenings

bearman why is 60g of protein per shake a lot? i drink isopure and its got 50g in it, Labrada makes some stuff that you mix up thats got 60g in it i think

yeah POSTwo i always have a double scoop of whey in my shakes. that and before bed is about the only time i even use them

the shake im takin is pro complex which as csy said is made by ON, i would never take a weight gainer, that would totally defeat my purpose of losing weight while trying to preserve as much muscle as i can. the serving calls for two scoops which would be 30 grams of protein per scoop. but there is only .5 grams of fat, and only 4 grams of carbs per serving (2 scoops), and thats all i make the shake with, 2 scoops. the thing im concerned about is my daily caloric intake, everyone is telling me to eat a lot, and i try to, but i guess i need to get it out of my mind that eating is not what makes you fat, its inactivity and a poor diet. like i said, i do cardio atleast once a day for atleast 30 mins with a heartrate of 150 or higher, im trying to lose fat here, im hoping by May i can be at about 240

and by the way, thanks to all of you for your help, i really have a goal here, and since i really cant play sports anymore because of a bad wheel, id really like to see where i can go with this, you all motivate me, and i in turn motivate myself and others, so please keep up the constructive criticism and advice, it is MUCH APPRECIATED

eating clean makes it harder to put on weight, then add the exercise on there and keep your cals lower than your basal rate and your good to go, you will have to drop weight.

keep the posative attitude and stick with the diet and your routine and you will see results

good luck to ya bro

ya, i know thats true, heres the only thing that has gotten me discouraged, i have seen physical improvements in the mirror and from other peoples mouths, but the scale almost never changes, why is this? am i gaining muscle and putting lean mass on, or am i not changin at all, someone explain this please

posted by bearman1
cool jst wanted to clarify.

good possibility

posted by Big A
if you see it changing and other around you see the change then yes that is whats happening. if you can physically see it then i wouldnt even worry about the scales its pointless. hop on em now and again to see what you are at but i seriously would stick to the diet and keep chugging away at it. make sure you switch up what you are doing once in a while so your body doesnt get used to the same thing.

got ya, keep the body guessing, thanks guys, and bearman, if i was harsh with my words im sorry bro, just makin a statement, all weight gainers are full of calories and carbs and fat, which is good for people that need em, i have plenty of mass i just need to see it hahaha

alright, my basal rate was calculated at 2666.3, and i have been tracking my foods at fitday.com, would it be ok for me to have a daily intake of 2000 cals and get around 300 to 400 grams of protein a day, along with my cardio daily of atleast 30 mins above 150 bpm?
