Hey, guys! My name's Gerard. This is my first post on BBForums. I'm 14 years old, turning 15 in about a month. I've been getting into weightlifting because I want to get stronger, bigger, and skinnier. I want to know if I should take supplements or if I should lay off. I know that it's personal opinion and it depends on who you are, so I'm going to give you guys some info about myself first.

Age:14
Weight:160
Body Fat%: 18%
Height: 5'9"
Somatotype: Mesomorph (I'm pretty sure)
Also, I'm a vegetarian (no eggs, but I eat dairy).

I'm thinking of taking glutamine and creatine. What do you guys think? I want to gain muscle and mass, not only because it would make me more athletic, but it would impress girls too 8-). I also have a question about creatine. If you take creatine and gain muscle, does it go away faster than if you gained that same muscle without it? Also, does it look less natural? I've been told that muscle gained with a supplement like creatine looks like fake muscle and goes away faster. I need to know if this is true or not.

Thanks,
Gerard

P.S: Any more questions that I need to answer for more accurate info, I'll be happy to answer.

it goes away if you stop working out, you build water retention when taking creatine especially monohydrate, but we cant tell you anything unless you tell us your diet, can u post it?

My diet...hmmm....let's see.

I drink lots of water, milk, and juice like V8 Splash. I eat CLIF and Balance protein bars (CLIF: 20g, Balance: 15-16g protein). I eat vegeterian buffalo wings (Morningstar) and vegeterian hamburgers (like 8g of fat and 12g protein per burger) with American deli cheese in a toasted bun lol. I also eat pasta (usually alfredo), and rice and beans (with the veggie buffalo wings)....other than that, not too much. I'll eat other stuff, but these things are my main foods. Anything else is just about the same.

When I was 7, I found out my mom and dad were vegetarians for a few years, so I decided to join along. Later my dad gave me his opinions on meat, and he convinced me that it's not meant to be consumed by humans unless it's completely necessary (which is why we only have four K9 teeth and why it's digested so slowly). That's not everyone's opinion, but I believe it.

but hey im only 17 so ya , i think u should try to hit the gym without the creatine at first and get used to the demand u put your body in. as for the products i recommend would be a quality protien shake, and the glutamine could also be taken but if u take the creatine as well space the glutamine and creatine at least 3 hrs apart. so take glutimine in the morning and beforeu go to bed about 5-10 grms per dosage and then creatine after workouts....try to get as much protien as possible( try to get close to ur own bodywieght in grams of protin a day) and keep a clean diet maybe try a good multivitiman and u should be on ur way to achieving ur goals..............REMEMBER this transformation wont happen overnight nor in a couple of weeks u have to be comitted and have a drive to get where u want ur body to be all i can say is good luck and dont be afraid to post her with any questions

I don;t tihnk u need supplents t this point the only 2 I would revcommend are a multi vitamin and some protien pwoerd u cna hold off on every thing else for now

as for your diet u need ot get mroe protien atleast 1 gram per pound of bodyweight perferably 1.5 but start with one thne bump it. repalce the carbs your eating with protien at a 1:1 ratio....so if your currently eating 300 grams of carbs a day drop 100 grams of carbs and add 100 grmas ofr protien that should get u clsoer to the 160 grams of protien u will need to take in.

use fitday.com to calculate yuor daily intake.. mnoitor it for 1 week thne let us know what your average caloric in take is as well as how much protjen ,fat and carbs u eat each day then we can adjust it depending on your
numbers.

if u perfer ot do it the manual way then:

1 grema of protien = 4 caloires
1 gram of carbs = 4 calories
1 gram of fat = 9 calories

if you have any questions jsut ask if not figure out your average intake over a week and get back ot us.
