We have all heard them before. Sub cu, IV, IM, PR, Sublingual and transdermal...but what do they mean and what difference does it make? Subcuntanious injections are injections into fat. It is just below the dermis layer (skin). Absorption rate is about 80%. A few drugs that are Sub cu are Hcg, Hgh and insulin. IV is intravenious. This one doesn't appy to us, so I won't get into it. Absorbtion rate is 95-100% on average. IM is as simple as it gets, intramuscular. Absorption is about 85-90%. PR....per rectum/suppository. There is actually one form of test that is now available that is PR. It's not advised unless you like this sort of thing. The main reason why we have drugs that are PR is due ot pt.s not being able to swallow or is vomiting and cannot keep certain meds down. Absorption rate is about 75-80%. Sublingual is under the tongue. Liquid is absorbed very quickly under the tongue and is actually much faster than ingestion. Rate is about 85-90% Transdermal is by way of skin. Meds are generally in the form of a paste or some kind of liquid and put on an adhesive peice of paper or plastic and then placed on the skin. This ,ethod is somewhat unpredictable as far as absorption goes. The old ways of making transdermals for fina only had a rate of about 25%. I believe that the number has been increased to about 40-50% with other methods, but I am not sure, as I have never made a transdermal drug and probably never will...they usually smell. So, it's safe to say that absorption will be anywhere from 25-70%, depending on what drug you are talking about. This includes drugs such as nitro and desurgesic patches. In the field I have used nitro patches in a few cases, but they can be messy and getting them on your hands can lead to a terrible headache or a drop in BP and lights out for me! LOL I like sublingual...nothing to worry about. On a closing note, I would like to add that it is brought up several times and I want to make it clear. Whether you go IM or Sub cu, no matter what the drug is intended for, it will make no real difference as far as what the drug will do in the body. it will react the same exact way. So, you will not get a bad reaction or any other odd occurances if you don't get it right.

Good info's! DMSO can be much worse like if you take injectable form of stuff. The problem you can get it is that with DMSO you can carried bacteria and microbes from your skin in the body and this can bring you some unvelcome problems. So you must always keep the skin sterile. You can do this with sterile gauze. Because in other case it's like having open wound. Other bad sides you can get with useing DMSO is to damage skin cells and has also few other nasty side effects. The best to avoid to this is to rotate sides where you are applying DMSO. Well DMSO is a waste of time and :2cents: IMHO!

But if this is the only way someone want use stuff I highly suggest to use PHLOGEL which have much higher absorbtion rate ~ 60% comapred to DMSO ~20% and actually there is no side effect compared to DMSO. ;)

Do you have studies and referances on this? I was not aware, unless you have a break in the skin, that bactieria can be absorbed through the skin.

I am not sure if this is in that site http://www.dmso.org/ check a little. But I see on few bros that they had some problem with skin and also I have conversations with bro's who experiment with this!

I checked and I am not finding anything. There is a difference between having problems with the skin, like an adverse/allergic reaction and an infection caused by something passing through the skin and entering into the blood. DMSO is very potent, so I have no reason to debate whether it can cause skin irritation, but I would dispute the other.
