| AIFM? LMFAO. AIFM is one of the worst products I’ve seen on the boards in awhile. What the manufacturer has done is to take an AI (ATD), and make it transdermal. Then they claim it will work as well as Aromasin. It will not. In fact, it’s Aromatase inhibiting ability (due to the method of delivery, i.e. transdermal), will be minimal at best (probably enough to prevent gyno on light cycles and reduce bloat a bit). It will probably not lower SHBG to any great degree, and will not effect aromatase in the same way oral AIs can. When we look at transdermal compounds, and their ability to effect SHBG when compared to orals, we see in studies* that transdermal compounds (which is what AIFM is) has a much lower effect on SHBG as compared with oral compounds. This is clearly because SHBG is produced in the liver, and by using a transdermal formulation, we actually bypass the first pass, where a drug goes through the liver before entering the bloodstream. Hence, we also see that in my article on injectable vs/ oral winstrol* (available on www.anthony-roberts.com ), I reference yet another study where an injectable and an oral are compared, and the oral has a far greater effect on SHBG. Orals will always effect SHBG more than injectables or transdermals. The amount of SHBG lowering we would see with a transdermal type-I AI is minimal at best. I think it’s less than 10% of the effect on SHBG w! e’d see from using the same compound orally (going off memory here). And, as we know, Aromatase is found largely in the liver, so by bypassing the first pass through the liver, and using a transdermal delivery system, AIFM not only avoids interacting at the aromatase enzyme where it is largely found (which means it won’t really be having much of a powerful systemic effect on Estrogen levels), but AIFM also avoids having the kind of SHBG lowering effect that Aromasin has. It will reduce estrogen, but would be far less effective than an oral version of ATD. I would assume they came out with a transdermal version because on the boards, research chems (like the ones from Ag-guys) rule, and if they came out with an oral version of ATD (which was already available from numerous companies already, prior to AIFM coming out), it would be killed by the existing research chem market. There’s no advantage to using a transdermal formula for an AI….oh…unless you want to avoid competing against research chems (oral AIs). So they took a decent AI (AT! D) and made it transdermal to avoid competing with the research chem market, and claim it’s as good as Aromasin. The only thing that it’s better than Aromasin at is causing a rash and boils (yeah, no kidding….some users get a rash from it). Pretty clever, huh….and I suggest avoiding it. There’s a reason that it’s ONLY popular on message boards that the company who produces it directly sponsors. When I first came to EliteFitness, one of the owners of the company had all of my posts exposing the ineffecacy of the product deleted. I suspect that goes on wherever the company who sponsors it has any real influence. As of yet, they’ve never answered my questions as to why it would be a transdermal, and what advantages transdermal delivery has over oral (answer: none). The amount that AIFM would actually lower SHBG would be almost statistically insignificant (especially when compared with Aromasin which lowers it by about 20%), and the amount it would actually lower estrogen is probably in the single digits %-wise as well…maybe just over. That’s right, you probably only get a single digit % reduction in estrogen from it (ok, ok….maybe just over that…which is enough to reduce bloat a little, and prevent gyno on light cycles). Currently, the rumor mill has also presented me with the idea that one of the owners of the company who produces AIFM has been in contact with (or has threatened to be in contact with) the FDA, in an effort to shut down the “research chem loopholeâ€. Just thought you might like to know. *Reference: Twenty two weeks of transdermal estradiol increases SHBG in surgical menopausal women. Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol 73; 149-52, 1997. |
