I had a revelation this morning.............. I am currently in midst of my fifth cycle and for the past 2 years have been terrorized by shin splints (compartment syndrome) While out on a run this morning the pain was almost crippling. I realized that I have no problem with this when I am not cycling and the only time I am hurting is when I am using...... This is very shitty since I am a soldier and am forced to run/march every day and have no way around it.... That and I really love juicin' Does anybody have NE techniques for dealing with splints?? At this point my only escape is gritting my teeth together and fighting off the tears! Cheers.

Hey man it would be really good to fill up something like a small garbage can or bucket with ice and water and just sit with your feet and shins in it for as long as you can stand. Do this at LEAST 3 times a day. This should help ya out bro.

High amounts of gear, especially Eq, can cause shin splints to be worse. Try biking, swimming or using an eliptical and see if that is any better. The more you run, the better they should get, but they may not go away while you're on gear.

I wonder if the increased blood presure could be causing it as well I had a heal spur but it was related ot the footwaer I was using while running.

I had horrible shin splints in high school and it seemed to get worse even with therapy. The only thing that seemed to help was ice like someone said and rest. Sometimes wrapping in a ACE wrap helped. I'm assuming you are already stretching like mad prior to activity. Plus running in softer environs ie grass, dirt vs concrete, asphalt will definitely help.
